William Mason Davis

William Mason Davis, 82, of Carlisle, Kentucky, passed away September 22, 2016 at his home after a short illness. He was the loving husband of Anna Mae Hughes Davis for 61 years. Son of the late James Thomas and Mamie Tipton Vice Davis, he was born December 20, 1933 in Montgomery County. He is survived by, other than his wife: one daughter, Elizabeth Davis Moreland, Carlisle; one son, James Mason (Jamie) Davis, Carlisle; four grandchildren: James Conn Wilson, Paint Lick, KY; Cara Elizabeth Wilson Clark (Brian) of Lexington, KY; Shanna Lauren Davis and Mason Keith Davis, Carlisle; three great-grandchildren: Cameron Davis Clark and Collier Lee Clark, Lexington; Annabelle Katherine Wilson, Paint Lick, KY; and many special nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Timothy Lee Moreland; ten siblings: Omer Davis, Robert Davis, Lula Mae Greene, Carrie Hutchinson, James Davis, Harold Clay Davis, Ethel Colville, Sarah Garrett, Wayne Davis, and Lydia Burke. Mr. Davis retired from IBM in 1990, was a member of the Daugherty Lodge #65, Carlisle Christian Church, Nicholas County Fish and Game Club, Nicholas County Class of 1952, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He loved his family, friends, camping, fishing, and singing. He enjoyed his volunteer work for God’s Pantry and singing at Johnson Mathers Nursing Home. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2016, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday, September 26, 2016, 1:00 p.m., with Brother Steve Smith officiating. Visitation and service will be at the Carlisle Christian Church. Burial to follow in the Carlisle Cemetery. Clark Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Mason Davis, Conn Wilson, Brian Clark, William “Buddy” Burke, Gilbert Garrett, and Tommy Vice. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Doyle, Fred Greene, Elva D. Clark, Mike King, Gerald Watkins, Charles Clark, Frankie Hughes, Miles Hughes, Mark Hughes, Matt Hughes, Keith Crouch, Andy Whirles, Sam Cooke Reynolds, Pam Ritchie, LeeAnn Ritchie, Tracy Berkey, Barbara Burke, and Vicky Gray. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all his dedicated caregivers: Pam Ritchie, LeeAnn Ritchie, Barbara Burke, Tracy Berkey, and Vicky Gray. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Bluegrass, Cynthiana Division; Carlisle Christian Church, or Nicholas County Fish and Game Club.
